A 63-year-old man known as Dear was arrested in Barangay Valenzuela, Makati City after police serving a court-issued search warrant found an unlicensed .38 revolver with live ammunition hidden in a shoe box. He now faces charges under Republic Act 10591, with the case set for referral to the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office.
Police arrested a 39-year-old farmer after he allegedly physically abused his live-in partner and was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm in Alcala, Pangasinan early Friday, 21 August.
The incident was reported at about 1:55 a.m. involving the suspect, a native of Lucao, Nueva Ecija, who is presently residing in Alcala.
Police said the victim, also 39, was allegedly physically abused by the suspect, who was reportedly in possession of a firearm.
During the investigation, the victim pointed out a firearm allegedly kept underneath their bed and identified it as belonging to the suspect.
Police recovered a modified shotgun without a serial number, with an inserted magazine containing two rounds of 12-gauge ammunition.
The suspect and the recovered firearm were placed under the custody of the Alcala Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.
The suspect may face charges for alleged violations of Republic Act 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act, and Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.
