Police officers captured two brothers wanted for murder in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, ending a 12-year manhunt during separate operations in Metro Manila this week, police leadership announced Thursday.
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. reported that local tracking teams arrested the suspects under non-bailable arrest warrants issued by the Regional Trial Court, Second Judicial Region, Branch 2 in Tuguegarao City.
The brothers, aged 41 and 43, were apprehended on 14 and 15 August through joint operations conducted by the Malate Police Station 9 of the Manila Police District and the Taguig Municipal Police Station.
Investigators cited that both men adopted false identities to evade law enforcement. The 41-year-old suspect operated under the alias Jose Pascual Adduru, while his 43-year-old brother went by the name Orlando Adduru.
Officers arrested the younger brother along Eulogio Amang Rodriguez Avenue in Pasig City on 14 August and tracked down the older brother in Barangay Malanday, Marikina City, the following day.
Both suspects are currently held at the Malate Police Station pending the return of the warrants to the issuing court and the receipt of a commitment order.
