    • P100 Million Hospital Funding

CEBU CITY — An initial P100 million has been allocated to complete the delayed building of the Cebu Provincial Hospital (CPH) in Danao City, Cebu.

Senator Joseph Victor Ejercito, Chair of the Senate Finance Committee, announced the funding during his visit to Cebu on Friday.

“One of my priorities is healthcare, and I’m happy that Governor Pam Baricuatro shares that priority. Thus, an initial P100 million will be allotted for the Danao Provincial Hospital,” Ejercito said.

“We had a short talk with Gov. Pam, and the Senate committee will try to look for funding not only for Danao but also for other provincial or district hospitals in southern Cebu,” he added.

Ejercito had previously helped secure P50 million for the Danao Provincial Hospital and P30 million for the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Balamban in western Cebu during the previous administration.

However, the funds were not used for the development or construction of the new hospital buildings.

Ejercito also visited the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) and hinted that the Senate Finance Committee may allocate another P50 million for its rehabilitation.

The CCMC has not been fully rehabilitated for more than a decade. Cebu City Vice Mayor Tomas Osmeña previously described it as the “most corrupt” infrastructure project in Cebu City.

The Cebu City government has already spent more than P1.2 billion on its rehabilitation and reconstruction.

Baricuatro told the DAILY TRIBUNE that she was grateful to Ejercito and the Senate Finance Committee for providing financial assistance to provincial hospitals.
