CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The provincial government of Pampanga, in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), has launched a massive relief operation as days of heavy southwest monsoon rains triggered widespread flooding across the province.

Led by Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda and Vice Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda, the provincial government mobilized food packs, hygiene kits, medical supplies and military-assisted transport to bring aid to flood-stricken communities.

As of Friday, 92,711 family food packs had been distributed across the province, with relief teams continuing to reach hard-hit barangays.

In Guagua, the governor personally led the distribution of food packs to 4,841 residents from five barangays, joined by DSWD Regional Director Venus Rebuldela and local officials.

In Candaba and San Luis, the vice governor facilitated the turnover of 11,451 family food packs with congressional and local officials.

Relief operations also reached Sasmuan and Bacolor, where 85 displaced families received hygiene kits and food packs.

The provincial government also provided free medical assistance and medicines in Macabebe, while troops from the Army's 70th Infantry Battalion deployed military trucks to ferry residents through flooded areas.

On Wednesday, 12 August, the provincial board placed Pampanga under a state of calamity through Resolution 10524, allowing the use of calamity funds for immediate relief and recovery efforts.

“Our mission is simple: to stand beside our people when they need us most. Every arm of the provincial government is working non-stop to ensure help reaches every flooded community,” Vice Gov. Pineda said.

With rains continuing and floodwaters remaining high in low-lying towns such as Sto. Tomas, where some areas have been submerged for more than a week, the provincial government assured residents that relief operations would continue for as long as needed.
