San Miguel Beer continued with its dominating rampage after adding hapless Titan Ultra to its list of victims.

George King put on a scoring clinic to lead the way in the Beermen’s 144-113 rout of the Giant Risers for a third straight victory in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Season 50 Governors’ Cup on Wednesday at the Ynares Center-Antipolo.

The high-scoring San Miguel import finished with 39 points on 16-of-33 field goal shooting and spiked his productive night with 10 rebounds, five assists and two steals.

He had ample local support as the Beermen won all three of their games since head coach Leo Austria returned from a successful angioplasty procedure.

“It’s a great motivation for me because everybody knows what happened to me. I’m so grateful because the players responded well to my return to the team. We’re playing well,” Austria said as San Miguel improved to a 7-2 win-loss record in second spot in Group A.

The Beermen’s bench once again contributed well, outscoring its Titan Ultra counterpart, 70-49. San Miguel also controlled the boards, 69-49, tallied 34 assists and had 22 second chance points.

“The good thing today is that everybody’s enjoying. They have created good chemistry and if you noticed in the last three games, the bench is performing really well and we have balanced scoring,” Austria added.

Don Trollano had 21 points and 10 rebounds, Marcio Lassiter scored 15 while Rodney Brondial added 13 markers, 17 boards and three assists in the Beermen’s blowout repeat over the same opponent they destroyed, 143-105, in the first round.

“As much as possible, I’m focused on contributing with the intangibles. The scoring is just a bonus for me,” said Brondial, who pulled down 10 offensive rebounds.

“We just didn’t want to take Titan for granted because last conference they beat us, which cost us a twice-to-beat advantage (in the playoffs). We took this game really seriously. We want to get as many wins as we can to secure a playoffs spot.”

San Miguel got its groove going in the second quarter with a 38-point explosion after trailing, 26-27, at the end of the first period. The Beermen took a 64-50 lead at the half.

It was all San Miguel from there with Jerrick Ahanmisi connecting a three at the buzzer for the game’s biggest separation and final count.

The Beermen will return to action on 10 October against defending champion TNT at the same Antipolo venue when competition resumes after a three-week break to give way to Gilas Pilipinas’ campaign in the 2027 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifier fourth round and the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

Titan Ultra’s misfortune was compounded by the loss of rookie guard Bryan Sajonia to a knee injury with 8:51 left in the third quarter on the same side of the court where NLEX import DeQuan Jones sustained a season-ending right leg injury the night before.

Sajonia’s left knee buckled while driving hard to the basket. He was stretchered off the playing court and did not return to the game after scoring four points, four assists and two boards.
