Titan Ultra repelled a scary fourth-quarter uprising by Macau to score a 132-128 revenge victory and snap a two-game skid in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Season 50 Governors’ Cup on Tuesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Tirrell Brown poured 36 points and came close to a triple-double with 10 rebounds and seven assists for the Giant Risers’ second win in seven games for a positive start in the second round in Group A.

“We really focused on defense, getting back in transition and playing smart offense,” Brown said of his squad’s payback after losing to the Giant Pandas, 126-132, last 25 July.

Titan Ultra exploded for 47 points in the first quarter and opened a 29-point spread in the second period.

Macau rallied in the second half and closed in, 130-124, after a De’Vondre Perry triple with 1:27 left in the game. But the fightback came a little too late as Macau saw its back-to-back wins snapped for a 2-5 card tied with Titan Ultra.

Joshua Munzon had 18 points, Roi Sumang scored 14 and Bryan Sajonia added 13 for the Giant Risers, who lost Mark Omega after a bad fall that had him stretchered off the court with 11:07 left in the final canto.

Perry led Macau with 45 points and 14 rebounds while Ramon Cao had 24 markers and 12 boards.

Meanwhile, San Miguel Beer and Converge try to turn their fortunes around and get off a good start in their second-round campaign today at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Tipoff time of the Group A main game is at 7:30 p.m. followed by the 5:15 Group B tussle between Phoenix and Blackwater.

The Beermen have maintained their spot inside the top four with a 4-2 slate despite coming off an 89-93 overtime loss to a badly decimated defending champion TNT last Saturday.

San Miguel handed Converge its first of three straight defeats, 128-122, on 22 July. The FiberXers are on a slump after going 3-0.

The Fuel Masters carry a 4-1 mark while the Bossing are on a three-game slide after winning their first two games.
