They the incidents happened Tuesday amid heavy rains brought by enhanced southwest monsoon. The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced that the government has proposed ₱107.4 billion for flood control projects under the 2027 national budget, including funds for the maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, and improvement of existing infrastructure. Of the amount, ₱19.6 billion is earmarked for ongoing foreign-assisted projects, while ₱3.41 billion is proposed for the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s flood control program. The 2026 budget also includes ₱1 billion for Project NOAH, whose flood-risk mapping tools could help lawmakers assess proposed flood control projects. Photo/Analy Labor
