  • Rumesbak si Palace Press Officer undersecretary Claire Castro sa daing ni Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong ukol sa umano'y mabagal na takbo ng imbestigasyon sa mga maanomalyang flood control project.

    Sa press briefing nitong Martes, ika-11 ng Agosto, pinatutsadahan ni Castro ang pahayag ng alkalde at iginiit na "marami nang naimbestigahan" matapos ang halos isang taon mula nang simulan ang proseso noong nakaraang taon.

    Nag-ugat ang usapin nang magpahayag ng pagkadismaya si Magalong sa gitna ng muling pagbaha sa iba't ibang bahagi ng bansa bunsod ng mga pag-ulan na dala ng hanging habagat.

    “Frustrating and very disappointing. Senador pa lang ang nagagalaw... ‘Yung mga congressman, wala pa, pangiti-ngiti lang sila. ‘Yung iba nga sa kanila nandiyan pa sa,” ayon sa pahayag ni Magalong.

    Bilang tugon, binalikan ni Castro ang pag-amin ni Magalong na noong 2019 pa nito sinimulan ang imbestigasyon sa rock netting project sa Kennon Road—isa sa mga proyektong unang kinuwestiyon nang pumutok ang usapin ng flood control.

    Dagdag pa ni Castro, maging si dating Senator Antonio Trillanes IV ay pinuna na rin ang alkalde dahil sa kabiguan nitong maglabas ng mga pangalan ng mga taong nasa likod ng proyekto.

    "Anim na taon na ang lumipas pero wala pa rin siyang nagagawa patungkol sa isyu ng rock netting," diin ni Castro. "So sino po kaya ang mas mabagal?"

    Paalala pa ng Palace official: "Kung may kakayahang mamintas at magturo, dapat ay may kakayahan ding kumilos para makatulong sa gobyerno at hindi puro pamimintas lang ang alam."
