Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso convened an emergency meeting of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council on Monday morning, ordering full mobilization of city agencies as persistent monsoon rains flooded parts of the capital.

Domagoso directed city departments to focus on four key areas: supplying food to evacuation centers, clearing road debris, managing traffic, and maintaining police and hospital readiness.

“I know work is suspended today, but the public has no one else to rely on but the government,” Domagoso said during the meeting.

The mayor instructed the Manila Department of Social Welfare to ensure continuous food distribution across the city’s four active evacuation centers.

He also ordered the Department of Engineering and Public Works and the Department of Environment and Public Services to clear debris from streets to prevent accidents.

Engineers were directed to coordinate with electric utility Meralco to clear damaged power poles and downed cables.

A Meralco representative reported no major circuit outages in Manila, noting that power issues were limited to isolated household cases caused by debris on power lines.
