Guest team Macau overhauled a 19-point deficit before hanging tough in the closing stretch to eke out a hard-earned first win at the expense of Titan Ultra, 132-126, in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Season 50 Governors’ Cup on Saturday at Ynares Center-Antipolo.

Ramon Cao came up with crucial 10 points in the Giant Pandas’ decisive 12-4 run in the fourth quarter on their way to snapping a four-game skid.

Cao finished with 28 points capped by a putback to give Macau a safe 131-124 advantage with just 13 seconds left in the game. He also grabbed 13 rebounds for the Giant Pandas, who in their debut conference in the Commissioner’s Cup also notched their first victory from the Giant Risers to end a seven-game slump.

De’Vondre Perry had 32 points and 22 rebounds, Jenning Leung got 14 of his 22 points in the fourth period while Damian Chongqui and Kobe Lam chipped in with 19 points each for Macau, who used an 81-point second half explosion to claim the win after trailing, 11-30, in the opening frame.

“I think we just played harder in the second. I felt like in the first half they were the more aggressive team but in the second half we turned it around, and that’s what we did,” Cao said.

Titan Ultra slipped to a fourth loss in five games to tie its tormentor.

Tirrell Brown posted 30 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocks in a losing effort. Joshua Munzon and Fran Yu ended their night with 19 and 17 points, respectively.

Meanwhile, NLEX and San Miguel Beer collide in a battle of unbeaten teams for the solo lead in Group A today at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Tipoff time is set at 5:15 p.m. followed by the Group B clash of Barangay Ginebra and Rain or Shine at 7:30 p.m.

The Road Warriors and Beermen are tied on top with three straight wins in as many games.

On the other hand, the Kings and Elasto Painters both seek back-to-back victories.
