There is no stopping him. President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has increasingly integrated support for sports, the cultural arts, and youth engagement into his administration and his addresses, drawing cheers and praise from supporters for championing the national morale.

Championing Sports and Youth Development

1. Increased Funding: In his national addresses the President has highlighted that state financing support for sports has tripled over recent years to bolster grassroots training and elite athletic programs.

2. Celebrating Icons: The administration actively spotlights international breakout stars and teams—such as global tennis prodigy Alex Eala and the FIFA-bound Filipinas women’s football team—to inspire active lifestyles and national pride.

The President has introduced landmark cash incentives for student athletes and launched an expansive national sports development targeting grassroots talent.

Recent Incentive for Athletes

1. Historic Palarong Pambansa Cash Rewards: For the first time, the Presidential Communications Office announced that student athletes competing in the Palarong Pambansa will receive cash incentives from the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).

2. First-Ever P10-million Allocation: The PSC turned over an unprecedented P10 million incentive fund to reward gold medalists.

3. New Youth Incentive Program: The PSC board, led by Chairman Patrick “Pato” Gregorio, approved a dedicated financial pipeline to reward and sustain young athletes excelling early in national and international competitions.

4. Expanded SEA Games Rewards: During a ceremony honoring competitors in the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, the President vowed to scale up direct cash and long-term financial support for senior and elite national team athletes.

Cultural Integration: Dance and Music

1. Cultural Festivities: PBBM frequently engages in the traditional and modern performing arts, supporting cultural mainstays like official festival dragon dances during Lunar New Year celebrations and regional pageantry.

2. Digital Connection: The administration has leaned heavily into contemporary youth platforms, leveraging viral playlists on Spotify to maintain a relatable public image.

President Marcos regularly attends and publicly supports cultural events, artistic award ceremonies, and heritage programs.

Cultural Engagements and Recognition

1. Gala and Arts Events: President Marcos and the First Lady host gatherings honoring Filipino performing artists such as a gala event celebrating national talent in Intramuros, Manila.

2. Ani ng Dangal: PBBM consistently participates in the National Commission for Culture and the Arts Ani ng Dangal awards, which celebrates Filipino talents who win international recognition in fields of dance, music, cinema, and the visual arts.

3. Honoring Icons: He has led state ceremonies conferring honors on pillars of Philippine music, film, and culinary heritage, describing creative workers as the soul of the nation.

Different Views on the Matter

1. Supporters’ Views: Admirers see his presence at art exhibits, theater and musical milestones as genuine encouragement that elevates national pride and boosts the creative economy.

2. Critics’ Views: Skeptics view his appearances as political messaging, a public relations strategy meant to project a cultural image, arguing that tangible financial backing and institutional reforms for grassroots artists are still lacking.
