The National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) called for stricter safety measures at road construction sites after a person with disability fell into an unfinished drainage project along F.B. Harrison Street in Pasay City.
The council said the incident underscores the risks posed by incomplete or poorly secured infrastructure projects, particularly to persons with disabilities and other pedestrians.
The drainage project was under construction when the accident occurred. The Department of Public Works and Highways has since ordered sanctions against the contractor and directed it to reimburse the victim for medical expenses and other damages arising from the incident.
