The La Union Police Provincial Office (LUPPO) has stepped up security across the province following a series of bomb threats circulated on social media, with Provincial Director Police Col. Redentor C. Ulsano personally visiting two schools on Monday to reassure students and school officials.
Ulsano visited CICOSAT Colleges in Barangay Lingsat, San Fernando City, and Lorma Colleges Basic Education Schools in Barangay Urbiztondo, San Juan, after online bomb threats targeted several schools and establishments in La Union.
During the visits, Ulsano met with school administrators, security personnel, faculty members, and students to discuss the security situation and underscore the importance of vigilance and close coordination with law enforcement authorities.
He assured the school communities that the police had heightened security measures and were continuously monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of educational institutions and other potential targets across the province.
Ulsano also urged students and the public to immediately report any information that could help identify the individual behind the bomb threats, stressing that community cooperation is vital in resolving the case and preventing unnecessary panic and disruption.
Aside from addressing security concerns, the provincial police director reminded students to use social media responsibly and encouraged those interested in pursuing careers in law enforcement to take the Philippine National Police Academy Cadet Admission Test as a pathway to joining the Philippine National Police.
Speaking to reporters, Ulsano assured the public that authorities have not detected any imminent threat to public safety and reiterated the police's commitment to protecting residents throughout the province.
He said investigators are pursuing all available leads to identify the person responsible for the malicious bomb threats and ensure that appropriate charges are filed against those involved.
Meanwhile, all police stations and Provincial Mobile Force Companies under LUPPO have intensified security operations by increasing police visibility through patrols, inspections, and security visits to schools and other key establishments across La Union.
The heightened security measures are intended to deter potential threats, reassure students, school personnel, and the public, and maintain peace and order while the investigation remains ongoing.
