If there is one thing the Hallyu wave has taught us, it is that Korean beauty is no longer just about chasing the elusive “glass skin” — it is a holistic lifestyle. This philosophy was front and center as Pretty Skin & Lamelin Philippines celebrated its first anniversary, transforming a business milestone into a vibrant festival of K-culture, skincare innovation and K-pop energy.
Held at the Dermstead Wellness Building, the event highlighted the deepening beauty ties between Seoul and Manila, unfolding through three distinctly Korean chapters: the brand’s anniversary, the debut of its K-beauty-rooted Glow Reset skincare line and a K-pop-inspired dance competition.
The significance of the celebration was cemented by the presence of Jung Bung Sub, president of Pretty Skin & Lamelin Korea. Traveling directly to Manila to commemorate the Philippine team’s first year, his presence highlighted the strong, growing relationship between the Korean headquarters and its passionate Filipino community.
For local founders Catherine Andres Gamo and Jun Gamo, the success of the past year is proof of the local appetite for authentic Korean beauty. “What began as a dream to bring Korean skincare innovation closer to Filipinos has become a thriving community,” Catherine shared. Rather than just selling products, the brand has built an ecosystem of beauty education, making the famed routines of Seoul more approachable for the Filipino consumer.
The event also served as the global unveiling of Pretty Skin Korea’s newest innovation: the Glow Reset Rice + Niacinamide collection.
Rooted deeply in Korean skincare heritage, the line champions ingredients that have long been staples in Korean dermatological care. As K-beauty trends shift away from instant perfection toward long-term skin health, the Glow Reset system encourages users to slow down and focus on rebuilding the skin barrier.
To break down the Korean science behind the collection, dermatologist Dr. Finesse Evangelista and brand personality Charizz Poin discussed how rice extract and niacinamide combat the modern realities of screen time, pollution and stress. The result is a daily ritual that focuses on deep hydration and nourishment — one of K-beauty’s biggest talking points today.
Proving that the brand is deeply embedded in the broader Korean cultural wave, the afternoon culminated in a major, Gen Z-coded announcement: the launch of the Pretty Skin × RESCENE “Glow Your Way to Seoul” Dance Competition.
