  • The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), through the Artist Training Division of its Arts Education Department, is accepting applications for Batch 14 of the CCP Kabataang Gitarista (KG) Program until 25 August.

Designed for young musicians, the program offers free weekly training in classical guitar, deepening participants’ understanding of the instrument and its repertoire while developing their technical and performance skills. The program is open to public high school students in the National Capital Region who will be in Grades 7, 8 or 9 during the coming school year. Applicants must demonstrate an interest in classical guitar and be willing to attend weekly training sessions every Saturday at the CCP Annex Building. They must also commit time to individual practice on weekdays and bring a nylon-string guitar to each lesson.

Interested students must complete and submit the online application form at https://tinyurl.com/ApplicationFormB14 on or before 25 August at 5 p.m. Onsite auditions will be held on 29 August, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez, CCP Complex. Walk-in applicants will also be accommodated on the day of the auditions.

Successful applicants, together with their parents or guardians, will be invited to attend an orientation and lecture on 5 September, from 10 a.m. to noon at the CCP Annex Building.

Now in its 14th year, the CCP Kabataang Gitarista Program has provided young musicians with quality classical guitar instruction and valuable performance opportunities. Members of the ensemble have performed at various CCP venues, public and private schools, outreach concerts outside Metro Manila, and private engagements. Several participants have also distinguished themselves in local and international competitions, earning recognition for their schools and bringing honor to the country. Beyond technical instruction, the program seeks to cultivate a performing classical guitar ensemble and create opportunities for young musicians to discover and develop their artistic potential.
