Football, World Cup 2026, Argentina, Messi, finals.
These are the words that cross my mind as I wait with bated breath for the finals early tomorrow morning.
Blame it on a life that was spent watching football games.
In my family of five boys and two girls, we grew up pretty much watching football games because that was the sport my brothers played.
Messi and the world of cars (as I imagine)
We all know that Leo Messi’s football legacy needs no explanation — World Cup winner, multiple Ballon d’Or trophies aside from being and one of the most recognizable sports people on the planet.
So I guess with that level of success it must have led to an interest of what he drives when he is away from the pitch.
And, as we know celebrity car collections can be difficult to fully confirm, so goes with Messi. Some cars have been officially linked to him through brand partnerships, while others have been reported by motoring and football outlets. So, rather than pretending every rumor is fact, here is a look at some of the talked-about cars connected to Messi.
But what is sure is that and FC Barcelona were endorsers of the Audi. So, it is for certain that he owns an Audi RS 6 Avant Performance. That is so because during his time at Barcelona, the club had a partnership with Audi.
Messi has also been linked with the Audi Q7 and Audi A7. That makes sense when you consider Audi’s long-running relationship with Barcelona during Messi’s years at the club.
The Q7 brings the big luxury SUV side of things, while the A7 gives more of a sleek executive feel. Compared with some of the supercars on this list, these are the more “everyday luxury” options, although they are still a long way from ordinary.
Lexus RX 450h
Did you know that not every car linked to Messi is a full-blown supercar or giant luxury SUV. The Lexus RX 450h has also appeared in reported lists of his collection, giving the garage a slightly more sensible side.
The RX 450h is a premium hybrid SUV, offering comfort, reliability and better efficiency than many luxury SUVs. It might not be the most exciting car in the world, but it shows that even football icons need something fun and easy to live with.
Hilarious, but I did catch an article, which said that one of the more unexpected cars linked to Messi is the Mini Cooper. Compared with the Ferraris, Maseratis and Range Rovers, it almost feels funny to see a Mini mentioned in the same breath.
But that is what makes Messi interesting. A Mini Cooper brings character, charm and simplicity. In a collection full of luxury and performance, it adds something completely different
A collection that matches the man
Yes, I heard that he has Ferraris and Maseratis but there are also practical performance cars, luxury SUVs and even more modest choices like the Mini Cooper.
The balance actually fits Messi’s public image quite well. He has spent his career doing extraordinary things, but often with a manner that makes it all look effortless. It is no wonder that his reported garage has a similar feel: expensive, impressive and full of quality, but not always screaming for attention.
Whether it is his performances for Argentina, his legacy in the sport or the cars linked to his name, one thing is clear: Lionel Messi is the GOAT.
