DAVAO CITY — Around 6,000 runners are expected to answer the starting gun when the world-class Singlife Davao Marathon fires off on 15 August at the SM Lanang Premier here.
Runners from all over the country, including the elite athletes, are expected to join the race that will have 42K, 21K, 10K and 5K routes with more the P1.2 million cash prizes at stake along with complimentary Singlife insurances for registered entries.
These entries will also have a chance to win a brand new BYD Seagull vehicle in the grand raffle.
RUNRIO Inc. president and chief executive officer Rio dela Cruz said they want to create a meaningful race experience for all the competitors.
“The Singlife Philippine Marathon Majors is about creating meaningful race experiences that go beyond the finish line. In Davao, participants can celebrate both their personal achievement and the spirit of Kadayawan in one memorable weekend,” said Dela Cruz, who presided over the press conference on Wednesday together with Singlife CEO Lester Cruz, Kinetix Sports president and CEO Kenneth Sai and Russel Alaba of SM Lanang Premier.
Dela Cruz added that age category champions will also earn eligibility to participate in the prestigious TCS Sydney Marathon, opening the door to an international marathon experience.
The Singlife Davao Marathon presented by SM Supermalls is part of the Singlife Philippine Marathon Majors, the country’s premier marathon series organized by RunRio.
The marathon reaffirms Davao’s growing reputation as a destination for major running events in the country.
