A Chinese businesswoman was arrested while 937 pieces of unregistered aerosol insecticides, mosquito coils, and other consumer products worth P100,972 were seized during a law enforcement operation at a store in Barangay District 1, Cauayan City, Isabela on 1 July 2026.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said the operation was conducted by the CIDG Isabela Provincial Field Unit, in coordination with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and local police units.
The suspect, identified only by the alias "Jin," a Chinese national and owner of the store, was allegedly caught selling aerosol insecticides without the required Certificate of Product Registration (CPR) issued by the FDA.
Under Republic Act No. 9711, the manufacture, importation, sale, distribution, and transfer of regulated health and consumer products require a valid Certificate of Product Registration from the FDA.
Authorities said the seized products had not undergone the FDA's evaluation process, meaning their safety, quality, and efficacy could not be guaranteed.
The suspect is expected to face charges for violating Republic Act No. 9711, or the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009. The confiscated products were turned over to the proper authorities for documentation and disposition.
