CIDG
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) seized P6-million worth of ebike batteries and chargers worth P6 million at Brgy. Laug in the town of Mexico, Pampanga on 23 June.
According to a report by the CIDG, the CIDG Pampanga Provincial Field Unit together with the Regional Special Operations Team (RSOT) of CIDG Regional Field Unit 3, Regional Special Operations Group (RSOT) of PRO 3, and Mexico Municipal Police Station implemented a Search Warrant for violation of Republic Act No. 7394 (Consumer Act of the Philippines).
The said implementation was conducted at the warehouse of Antelope Electric Motors located in Brgy. Laug, Mexico, Pampanga that resulted in the confiscation of 365 units of imported batteries (Chilwee, Tianneng brands) and 90 units of chargers for e-bikes; and 20 units of antelope e-bikes with batteries- with an estimated total value of P6,020,000.00.
A report that reached PMGEN Robert AA Morico II, the Director of CIDG stated that the seized imported batteries and chargers for e-bikes lacked the required Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) stickers, and Philippine Standard (PS) marks prescribed by the Department of Trade and Industry–Bureau of Philippine Standards (DTI–BPS) in pursuance to Republic Act No. 7394 (Consumer Act of the Philippines).
The authorities also found that the warehouse has no business permit from the local government unit.
The CIDG Director emphasized that it is the policy of the State to protect the interests of the consumers, promote their general welfare, and establish standards of conduct for business and industry.
In the Philippines, an Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) sticker is required by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to ensure imported goods meet minimum safety and quality standards. The sticker acts as visual proof that a product has been tested and passed Philippine National Standards.
