National Home Mortgage Finance Corp.
The National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC) has been unanimously elected chair of the Asian Secondary Mortgage Market Association (ASMMA) for 2027, giving the Philippines a larger role in promoting regional cooperation on housing finance.
The election was held during the ASMMA Annual Meeting on 9 June in Mongolia, where delegates from Asia-Pacific member states and partner countries discussed ways to strengthen secondary mortgage markets, promote green finance and expand regional collaboration. The NHMFC delegation was led by Officer-in-Charge Executive Vice President Victor Allan Hilao.
NHMFC President Renato Tobias said the unanimous election reflects the confidence of the organization's regional counterparts in the corporation's work on housing finance innovation.
He said the leadership role will allow NHMFC to strengthen regional partnerships, facilitate the exchange of best practices and help shape the future of housing finance across Asia.
As incoming chair, NHMFC will host the 2027 ASMMA Annual Conference in the Philippines. The event will bring together housing finance institutions, policymakers, regulators and industry leaders to discuss emerging trends and explore solutions for expanding access to housing finance.
Tobias said the chairmanship will also provide an opportunity to showcase the Philippines' initiatives in strengthening the secondary mortgage market and advancing resilient, inclusive and sustainable housing.
The Asian Secondary Mortgage Market Association is a non-profit network of secondary mortgage institutions across Asia that promotes collaboration, knowledge-sharing and sustainable, affordable homeownership throughout the region.
