The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) sees no major power interruption will happen on 6 July, as available generating capacity for Monday is at positive levels.
In its power situation projection released on Sunday, the NGCP said for the Luzon Grid, tomorrow’s available generating capacity is at 16,460 megawatts (MW), larger than its 12,450 MW demand for the said date. Operating margins of the Luzon Grid are at 4,010 MW.
At the Visayas Grid, NGCP’s available generating capacity is at 2,702 MW, higher than its system peak demand of 2,468 MW, with an operating margin of 234 MW.
Lastly, the Mindanao Grid’s available generating capacity was at 3,197 MW, with an operating margin of 701 MW.
Available generating capacity fluctuates daily depending on power plant operations.
While the operating margin for the NGCP refers to the buffer of available power generation capacity above peak consumer demand.
Swift operation
Meanwhile, the NGCP reported that it already restored power transmission service in parts of Zamboanga Sibugay and parts of Zamboanga del Norte as of 3:13 p.m., Sunday.
Restored was the RT Lim-Sirawai 69kV line section, which affected parts of ZAMSURECO II (Zamboanga del Sur II Electric Cooperative Inc.) following a tripped line that occurred at noontime on 5 July.
“Root cause is yet undetermined. Line inspection is continuing even after restoration to establish the cause of the outage. We appreciate your patience and understanding during the power interruption,” the NGCP said in its Facebook post.
The NGCP also reported an early completion of scheduled maintenance activities affecting parts of Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Sultan Kudarat, South Cotabato and Cotabato Province
“NGCP completed its scheduled maintenance activities ahead of schedule, resulting in the early restoration of power transmission service to the following customers: SOCOTECO I (Matulas, Dajay, Norala, Dole, Banga, and Lamsugod Substations) — 1:23 p.m.; COTELCO-Main (Bagontapay and Tulunan Substations), SUKELCO (Dansuli, Dukay, Isulan, Datu Paglas and Malipayon Substations) and MAGELCO (Capiton, Rajah Silongan Kudarat, Salbu, & Talayan Substations) — 1:22 p.m.; SUKELCO’s Kalamansig Substation — 1:21 p.m.,” it said.
