TV Host Pia Guanio shares wellness journey

Looking and feeling healthy has become a priority for many celebrities, and television host Pia Guanio-Mago is embracing that philosophy with renewed purpose. Joining actors Tony Labrusca, John Vic de Guzman, Sam Colosa, Wilbert Tolentino, and several other personalities, Guanio recently championed the importance of preventive healthcare and wellness during separate partnership events led by Dr. John Paul C. Pareja in Quezon City.
For Guanio, staying healthy has little to do with the number of candles on a birthday cake.
“It’s really about how healthy you are right now, how strong you are at the moment, and how well you can perform your responsibilities. I don’t really stress about the number on my birth certificate. It’s the quality of life that matters.”
The veteran broadcaster shared that she now feels stronger and healthier than she did decades ago, crediting a more disciplined lifestyle and a greater appreciation for taking care of herself.
She admitted that becoming a mother completely changed her perspective.
“When I had children, I became more conscious about my health. I started learning more about wellness because I wanted to be there for my family.”
Fitness, she added, is not simply a personal goal but something that benefits those closest to her.
“When I work out, I’m happier and I have more energy. My children are actually the ones who benefit because I can give more of myself to them.”
Guanio also reflected on a turning point in her television career. After leaving 24 Oras years ago to focus on motherhood and eventually stepping away from Eat Bulaga! during the pandemic, she believed her days in front of the camera were over.
“I thought retirement was already waiting for me. I was ready to just enjoy raising my children.”
That changed when Net25 invited her to host Kada Umaga, an opportunity she considers a blessing.
“I felt that God still had a mission for me, so I accepted it.”
Today, Guanio says she has found balance between work, family, and personal wellness.
“The schedule allows me to spend time with my children and continue my fitness programs. Those are things I wouldn’t trade.”
Meanwhile, wellness advocates from the entertainment industry also joined new campaigns promoting healthier lifestyles. Tony Labrusca, John Vic de Guzman, Jayson Gainza, Sam YG, Gerry “Mr. Freeze” Santos, Paul Salas, Andrew Muhlach, and host Sam Colosa were formally introduced as ambassadors of OWEN Regenerative & Longevity, an initiative focused on regenerative medicine, preventive healthcare, and longevity.
In a separate event, Guanio, Sachzna Laparan, and Maricel Tulfo were named ambassadors of The SB Clinic, which promotes advanced aesthetic, wellness, and regenerative treatments.
Leading both initiatives were Dr. John Paul C. Pareja and operations manager Angelica Pareja, who emphasized that the partnerships are intended to encourage more Filipinos to invest in their long-term health instead of waiting for illnesses to appear.
“This collaboration represents more than a partnership,” Dr. Pareja said. “It is a shared commitment to help people live healthier, feel better, and enjoy a better quality of life.”
With familiar faces from television and film lending their voices to the advocacy, the campaigns hope to inspire Filipinos to view wellness not as a luxury, but as a lifelong investment in healthier and more fulfilling lives.
