Morning classes at a public high school in Cainta, Rizal were disrupted Friday after the institution received consecutive shooting and bomb threats on social media.
Cainta police chief Lt. Col. Alfredo Lim said authorities are on high alert and conducting a thorough investigation into the series of threats targeting Francisco P. Felix Memorial National High School.
Reports disclosed that the scare began Thursday afternoon when threats from suspected dummy accounts surfaced online.
The provincial explosive and canine unit immediately deployed teams to scour the entire school facility with K-9 dogs. Following a thorough search, authorities declared the campus safe and clear of any explosives.
Cainta Municipal Police Station personnel remain deployed at the school to monitor the area. School administrators appealed to students, teachers and parents to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified rumors that could cause further panic.
Authorities are working with the Rizal Provincial Anti-Cybercrime Unit to trace the digital origin of the posts. Officials warned that individuals found responsible will face criminal charges for violating the anti-cybercrime law.
