Morning classes in a public school in Cainta, Rizal were disrupted Friday after receiving consecutive shooting and bomb threats on social media.
Authorities are currently on high alert and conducting a thorough investigation into the series of threats that targeted Francisco P. Felix Memorial National High School, according to Cainta police chief Lt. Col. Alfredo Lim.
The tension started on Thursday, 2 July 2026, when spine-chilling threats from fake or dummy accounts surfaced on social media.
Based on the initial investigation, the threat originated from various dummy accounts posted online on Thursday afternoon, 2 July.
The provincial explosive and canine unit of the local police immediately responded to scour the entire school facility alongside K9 dogs.
Following a thorough search, the school was declared safe and negative for any type of bomb or explosive.
Nevertheless, personnel of the Cainta Municipal Police Station are still strictly monitoring the said school.
The school administration appealed to students, teachers, and parents to remain calm and avoid spreading fake news or rumors that only cause further fear among the public.
Meanwhile, the Cainta police are already collaborating with the Rizal Provincial Anti-Cybercrime Unit to identify the person behind the threat.
Individuals proven to be involved in the incident may face appropriate charges connected to violations of the anti-cybercrime law.
