CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Police operatives seized four illegal firearms and arrested a 53-year-old man in a joint intelligence-driven operation in Bongabon, Nueva Ecija, as authorities intensified their campaign against unregistered weapons.
Reports from the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) said the raid was conducted on 2 July in Barangay Digmala, Bongabon, by personnel from PRO3, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Nueva Ecija, the Nueva Ecija Provincial Police Office, and the Bongabon Municipal Police Station.
The operation was carried out by virtue of Search Warrant No. 2026-30 issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 111 in Tarlac City.
Recovered from the suspect were a .45-caliber pistol, a .40-caliber pistol, a .357-caliber pistol, and a .38-caliber pistol. Authorities also confiscated a .22-caliber barrel and magazine assembly, 22 rounds of .45-caliber ammunition, and three live rounds of .22-caliber ammunition.
The suspect is now in the custody of the Bongabon Municipal Police Station and is facing charges for violating Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. All seized items have been turned over to the PRO3 Regional Special Operations Group–Regional Intelligence Division for documentation and proper disposition.
PRO3 Regional Director PBGen. Jess B. Mendez lauded the operating teams for the successful operation.
“Illegal firearms remain one of the biggest threats to public safety. They fuel violence, embolden criminals, and shatter the sense of security in our neighborhoods,” Mendez said.
“This operation shows that we will not waver in going after anyone keeping unregistered weapons. We rely on solid intelligence and coordinated action to keep these guns off our streets,” he added.
Mendez also called on Central Luzon residents to be the eyes and ears of the police.
“Peace and order is a shared responsibility. If you know someone illegally possessing firearms or engaging in unlawful acts, come forward and report it. Your tip could prevent a crime and save lives,” he said.
