Around 70 low-income families in Rizal province received individual land titles Wednesday, concluding a yearslong effort by local communities to secure legal ownership of their home lots.
This comes as the Social Housing Finance Corp. (SHFC) and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) awarded the Transfer Certificates of Title to member-beneficiaries from the San Isidro Labrador Homeowners’ Association Inc. Phases 1, 2 and 3 during a ceremony in Barangay San Roque.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling led the distribution alongside SHFC president and CEO Federico Laxa and Antipolo City Mayor Casimiro Ynares III.
Officials said the turnover highlights the government’s push to provide secure land tenure through the Community Mortgage Program, a key component of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) initiative.
Laxa said the mortgage program is designed to transform the land ownership aspirations of low-income families into reality. He congratulated the beneficiaries on successfully securing the long-awaited documents.
Ynares thanked national housing officials for expediting property registration programs in the city, noting that formal land titles provide residents with legal security, peace of mind and better economic opportunities.
Elmer Reyes, 47, president of the association’s Phase 1, spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries.
“The titles we received today are not just legal documents,” Reyes said. “They are symbols of our dreams, our sacrifices, and the security of our tenure.”
