Actor Janus del Prado has drawn mixed reactions after criticizing some participants in the Pride Month parade on 28 June for wearing what he described as revealing outfits.
In a Facebook post, Del Prado said some members of the LGBTQ+ community wore skimpy bikinis during the event, arguing that public celebrations should still observe laws against indecent exposure.
"We have laws against indecent exposure, just so you know. Celebrate Pride Month all you want, but please dress appropriately, especially in public places where kids may accidentally see you," he wrote.
Del Prado also questioned what he described as a double standard in the enforcement of public decency laws, comparing the treatment of topless men in public with Pride participants wearing bikini-style outfits.
He argued that laws on indecent exposure should be applied equally regardless of gender or sexual orientation.
The actor also tagged Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte and Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla, questioning whether existing laws are being enforced fairly.
