Gensan escaped Pasig City, 81-80, to retain top spot in the SportsPlus Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League 2026 Season South division on Saturday at the Olivarez College Gym in Parañaque.

Behind, 75-80, Pasig threatened following two free throws by Keith Pido and a layup by Jacob Galicia with 6.4 seconds left.

Warriors big man Larry Rodriguez missed two charities with 3.8 seconds to go, and Galicia snagged the rebound. Pasig couldn't attempt in time, sending Gensan to a 14-2 record.

Hesed Gabo delivered 14 points, eight in the fourth quarter, three rebounds and three assists, and was chosen the SportsPlus Best Player over Val Acuna, who posted 14 points, laced with four triples, and three rebounds.

Joshua Fontanilla provided support with nine points, and RJ Minerva with eight points and eight rebounds.

Pasig slid to 7-5 despite Galicia's 15 points and 10 rebounds, Jerome Garcia's 12 points, four rebounds and three assists, Ahron Estacio's 11 points, eight rebounds, nine assists and two steals, Warlo Batac's 11 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two assists, and Jerald Bautista's 10 points plus two rebounds.

Meanwhile, Zamboanga SiKat battered Bacolod, 117-80, in the second game to regain traction with a 5-9 slate.

Inand Van Fornilos paced Zamboanga with 18 points, seven rebounds and two assists, followed by former University of Santo Tomas Growling Tiger Forthsky Padrigao, with 13 points, 12 assists, two rebounds and two steals, and Brandon Wilson, with 13 points plus nine rebounds.
