Kim Chiu caught the collective wrath of netizens over a bad joke that involved Ryzza Mae Dizon.
In a recent episode of It’s Showtime, Chiu was instructed by a guest, Brent Manalo, to turn her back. “Lotus Feet is there,” Manalo told Chiu.
And when Chiu did turn her back, she saw a woman in a White Lady costume. Without blinking, Chiu screamed, “Ryzza Mae!” which had netizens laughing.
Lotus Feet is an eerie character in Feng Shui, a horror movie that starred Kris Aquino. It is a Chinese character with bound feet that can only grow up to three inches, making mobility a great challenge.
To netizens, Chiu’s joke left a bad taste in the mouth as they thought it was delivered with seeming condescension.
With that, Chiu was criticized for her insensitivity.

“But it’s offensive, you know, because just look at how they reacted when they said, ‘Oh, it’s Ryzza.’ If they have an inside joke, it should just be among themselves, but it’s televised. So yes, offensive and over the top.”
“Kim really has some digs like the mean girls. This is not the first time.”
“It’s just so tasteless and they aren’t even network mates. The kid is just quiet and working well. Ryzza Mae has such a great image. She hasn’t had any problematic issue since she was a kid.”
“It seems like they’ve had a long-running inside/private joke about Ryzza Mae. They probably laugh at her a lot in their group chats. Their humor can be hit or miss. Sorry, but Ryzza’s gaining more fans, especially after she met Bimby again. There’s nothing wrong with that kid or her family. She doesn’t deserve to be the butt of jokes or bullying.”
Any comment, Ms. Chiu?
Jhong Hilario admits being giddy in a fight scene with Coco Martin
Jhong Hilario unabashedly admitted his overwhelming excitement while doing fight scenes with Coco Martin in Sigabo.
The fight between Martin’s character, Gabo, and Hilario’s character, Django, happened in a bustling public market and was shot in broad daylight.
“Actually, kinikilig ako eh,” Hilario said after the watch party of the show held at the ABS-CBN compound.
“Ikaw ba naman yung maka-fight scene ng isang Coco Martin? Sobrang thankful and grateful talaga. Lagi kong sinasabi ’to na binigyan ulit ako ng chance ni direk Coco na mapabilang sa Sigabo na alam kong tatangkilikin ng mga Pilipino (You get to do a fight scene with Coco Martin? I was so thankful and grateful, really. I always say that Direk Coco gave me the chance to be part of Sigabo, which I feel Filipinos will patronize),” Hilario added.
He feels that Filipino talents are world-class, proving their mettle in different fields such as dance, sports, music and acting.
“Tayong mga Pinoy, (kaya nating) makipagsabayan sa mga sayaw, may mga nag-champion na tayo sa sayaw, sa pagkanta, sports at sa pag-arte. I think this time, sa series, makikipagsabayan na ang mga Pilipino (We Filipinos can keep up in dance — we’ve produced champions in dance, music, sports and acting. I think this time, in television series, Filipinos can compete as well),” he said with confidence.
Sigabo’s premiere episode registered a strong 404,124 peak concurrent viewers on YouTube on Monday, 22 June.
