Fugitive South Korean falls

Bureau of Immigration (BI) officers have arrested a 29-year-old South Korean woman wanted in her home country for her alleged role in running an illegal online gambling network that generated trillions of won in illicit proceeds.
Operatives from the BI Fugitive Search Unit, working alongside South Korean authorities and the Philippine National Police Intelligence Group, arrested Kim Youngsun at a residential area in General Trias, Cavite.
South Korean authorities issued a warrant for Kim's arrest through the Incheon District Court in April 2025, accusing her of operating illegal gambling websites. Interpol subsequently issued a Red Notice for her in June 2025.
According to intelligence reports, Kim served as an assistant manager overseeing operational units for 23 illegal online gambling sites operating out of offices in Pasay City and Quezon City beginning in November 2018.
Investigators estimate the syndicate generated roughly KRW 5.33 trillion in illegal proceeds from online sports betting and related activities.
Immigration records indicate Kim entered the Philippines in 2025 as a temporary visitor and had overstayed her visa.
Kim was transferred to the BI warden facility pending deportation and custodial proceedings.
