BoC intercepts Canadian parcel containing illegal drugs

Police arrested a 47-year-old man Monday following a snatching incident in slow-moving traffic along northbound EDSA in Barangay Unang Sigaw in Quezon City.

The arrest occurred around 3 p.m. after local barangay personnel and a nearby mobile police unit responded to a foot chase near Juliana Market.

Authorities said a 42-year-old woman was riding a motorcycle with a companion when the suspect grabbed her 21-karat gold necklace valued at P72,000 and a silver necklace worth P1,500.

The victim and her companion pursued the suspect on foot. During the chase, the suspect allegedly brandished a bladed weapon and handed one of the stolen necklaces to an accomplice before continuing to flee.

The victims flagged down Barangay Public Safety Officers, who coordinated with a patrolling police vehicle in the area.

Responding personnel intercepted and arrested the fleeing suspect, recovering an 8-inch folding knife from his possession.

The second suspect escaped with one of the necklaces and remains at large. Police are conducting follow-up operations to locate the accomplice and recover the remaining stolen property.
