Police arrested an Australian national and three Filipino companions after they allegedly occupied a private property owned by a 91-year-old man and refused to leave, authorities said Thursday.
The suspects face charges of grave coercion as well as resistance and disobedience to a person in authority under the Revised Penal Code. They were arrested Wednesday evening by personnel from the Las Piñas City Police Station’s Pamplona Sub-Station.
Police identified the arrested suspects as alias “Israel,” an Australian national; alias “Alberto,” alias “Lowie” and alias “Jeffrey.”
A fifth suspect, identified only as “Art,” escaped and remains at large.
Investigators said the incident stemmed from a property dispute involving a residential lot along Veraville Drive in Barangay Pamplona Tres.
The case came to light after the property’s stay-in caretaker reported that the suspects arrived at the residence at around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and used intimidation to force him to leave.
Police said the alleged leader of the group offered the caretaker P10,000 as “travel fare” to leave the premises. The caretaker refused the money and later turned it over to authorities as evidence.
