Four killed in central Mexico plane crash

Four people died Thursday when a small plane crashed in the central Mexican state of Puebla, authorities said.

The single-engine aircraft went down around 12:00 p.m. (1800 GMT) shortly after takeoff, landing in an industrial park in Santa Ana Xalmimilulco, according to the state security office.

Local resident Vicente Hernandez told AFP the plane tried to recover but was “already (flying) very low” before plunging nose-first into the ground.

The flight was headed for Poza Rica in the eastern state of Veracruz. Puebla’s Interior Ministry said three people died at the scene and a fourth succumbed after being taken for medical care.
