After nine years as a disc jockey and station manager, Papa Jackson has officially resigned from Energy FM, marking the end of an era defined by his distinctive leadership and vision, which elevated the station to a major presence in the radio industry.

From a relatively unknown FM station nine years ago, Papa Jackson transformed Energy FM into a competitive powerhouse. As station manager, he introduced groundbreaking policies, new programming, and a refreshed station image that resonated with listeners and industry peers alike.

New partnership

Under his leadership, Papa Jackson formed a dynamic on-air partnership with DJ Kara, who also came from Love Radio. The duo, branded as “KarJack” (Gandang Kara and Papa Jackson), quickly became a household name in radio programming. Their chemistry and popularity made them one of the station’s most celebrated on-air tandems, attracting a significant listener base.

Adding to the team’s success was Kuya Chico, a seasoned radio personality from Yes FM. Together, they helped Energy FM become a major force both on-air and online, earning numerous awards over the past nine years.

Throughout this period, Papa Jackson was the driving force behind the station’s innovative direction, introducing fresh sounds and a revitalized image that reshaped FM listening experiences.

Changes and departure

As change is constant in the media industry, the arrival of a new executive ultimately influenced Papa Jackson’s decision to step down. The incoming leadership proposed adjustments to programming, operations, and music direction that clashed with Papa Jackson’s vision. Feeling that his creative and managerial freedom was restricted, he chose to resign.

His departure in November last year marked the end of an era. A notable portion of loyal listeners stopped tuning in, leading to a significant drop in the station’s ratings and online engagement. The absence of Papa Jackson clearly impacted Energy FM’s audience share.

Despite leaving the station, Papa Jackson remains active in broadcasting through his online show, Petty Night, where he continues to offer advice on romance and a wide range of other topics.
