BUKIDNON — Officials of Manolo Fortich inaugurated a new three-classroom school building in Barangay Damilag, supporting the national government’s Classroom-Building Acceleration Program (CAP) aimed at reducing classroom shortages.
Grades 4, 5 and 6 learners at Damilag Integrated School have begun occupying the one-unit Progressive Type building following its turnover by the local government. The additional classrooms are expected to ease overcrowding and provide a more conducive learning environment.
The CAP seeks to address the country’s classroom backlog and ensure students have safe and adequate spaces for learning. Local officials said the newly completed facility contributes to achieving this goal at the grassroots level.
School principal I Evangeline T. Gamali expressed gratitude to Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño for prioritizing school infrastructure projects.
“Once the building was completed, we immediately transferred the children so they could study in a more comfortable environment,” Gamali said.
Parent Razele Joy Restificar welcomed the development, noting that the added classrooms helped eliminate the previous shifting system caused by congestion.
“As a parent, I am happy that additional classrooms were provided because the children struggled with limited facilities,” Restificar said.
The project costs P1.8 million and was funded through the Supplemental Budget–Special Education Fund for calendar year 2025. Construction began on 29 July and was completed on 16 December 2025.
Education ranks third in Mayor Quiño’s 8-Point Agenda, guiding the local government’s continued investment in school infrastructure and support for national efforts to expand access to quality basic education.
