Afternoon television is about to get a serious temperature check as GMA Network rolls out its newest drama offering, Apoy sa Dugo, beginning 2 March on its Afternoon Prime block.

Front and center in this emotionally explosive series are Sparkle stars Derrick Monasterio, Ashley Ortega and Elle Villanueva, each stepping into what may be the most daring roles of their careers.

Villanueva portrays Vanessa, a principled attorney known for championing the underprivileged without asking for payment. At her side is Marco (Monasterio), a soft-spoken entrepreneur who once defied his parents’ expectations to carve out his own path. Their seemingly idyllic life, built on love and shared values, begins to unravel with the sudden arrival of Angel (Ortega).

Angel is no ordinary visitor; she is Vanessa’s estranged half-sister. Hungry for belonging and desperate to reclaim lost time, Angel’s longing slowly spirals into a dangerous fixation. What begins as a desire for sisterhood morphs into a consuming obsession, threatening to shatter everything Vanessa holds dear.

When Vanessa uncovers the alarming lengths Angel has gone to in the name of love, she makes a life-altering decision — one that ignites a bitter and relentless clash between them.

The series probes unsettling questions: When does devotion cross the line into destruction? And when loyalty is tested, does shared blood bind a family tighter, or burn it from within?

Adding gravitas to the narrative are seasoned performer Ricardo Cepeda alongside rising Sparkle talents Thea Tolentino, Patricia Coma and Larkin Castor. Steering the drama is director Ralfh Manuel Malabunga, who promises a story that dives deep into the extremes of love, betrayal and moral conflict.

Amador, who plays Silvia, hints that the tension won’t just simmer, it will scorch.

Si Silvia naman po, ang pinaglalaban niya para sa pamilya niya ay moralidad at kriminalidad. In that sense mas mabait pa si Silvia pero sisiguradihan kong mas maiinis pa sila kaysa doon sa nagte-trending ngayon (Silvia fights for her family on the grounds of morality and criminality. In that sense, she is even stricter — but I’ll make sure they’re even more intense than what’s currently trending),” she said.

Apoy sa Dugoairs Mondays through Fridays at 4:05 p.m. on GMA Afternoon Prime, with international viewers tuning in via GMA Pinoy TV.
