Movem, the e-mobility subsidiary of Manila Electric Company (Meralco), has installed five electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at Edades Tower and Edades Suites in Rockwell Center, Makati, to secure early ground in the country’s emerging EV market.
The chargers, operated by Movem and equipped with 22-kilowatt AC capacity, will serve residents, Rockwell Club members, and retail patrons, with charging demand within a captive residential and commercial base.
The move will help Rockwell Property Management Corp. to meet rising expectations among property buyers and tenants as EV ownership gradually expands, while giving Meralco’s mobility unit a foothold in high-density urban developments where charging access is limited.
Users can locate stations, monitor charging sessions, and pay cashlessly through Movem’s ChargeM app, integrating EV charging into routine building services.
“The launch of our electric vehicle charging stations, in partnership with Movem, is an important step in strengthening our sustainable and future-ready initiatives.
As electric mobility grows, it’s important that we provide the right infrastructure while maintaining the quality and convenience our developments are known for,” Edades by Rockwell Condominium Corporation Chairman of the Board Valerie Jane L. Soliven said on Saturday.
For Movem, the installation expands its charging network by embedding infrastructure directly inside private developments, supported by Meralco’s power distribution system.
“What we have set up here in Rockwell Edades Tower and Suites goes well beyond EV charging. What we have here is a symbol of sustainable and meaningful progress, as we at Rockwell and Movem help enable cleaner and greener mobility.
Indeed, it is through partnerships like this, built on trust, shared purpose, and innovation, that we pave the way for a sustainable tomorrow,” Movem President and Chief Executive Officer Raymond B. Ravelo said.
