Shangri-La Mactan in Cebu has officially partnered with Eastern Communications, naming the telco provider as the resort’s official internet and ICT service partner. The move aims to enhance digital infrastructure for both guests and internal operations at one of Cebu’s premier island destinations.
Starting January 2026, Eastern Communications will deliver 1000 Mbps via its Internet Direct Service (IDS), a dedicated enterprise-grade solution with a 1:1 contention ratio that guarantees stable and consistent connectivity even during peak usage periods. This service will support everything from smooth guest check-ins and uninterrupted in-room internet to operational systems that ensure efficiency and safety.
"Providing an exceptional guest experience means ensuring that connectivity is effortless and reliable throughout the resort," said Dave Junker, General Manager of Shangri-La Mactan. "By working with Eastern Communications, we are strengthening our digital capabilities in a way that supports both our guests and our teams, allowing us to consistently deliver the exceptional service Shangri-La is known for."
The partnership comes as Cebu continues to see high tourist traffic. According to the Department of Tourism, the city welcomed 102,124 visitors during the holiday season, just before Lapu-Lapu City hosted the 45th ASEAN Tourism Forum. Reliable connectivity is now a core part of delivering the seamless experience travelers expect.
"Connectivity is fundamental to how businesses serve their customers and how guests experience a destination," said Anthony Co, Head of Sales – Regional Operations Group at Eastern Communications. "Our partnership with Shangri-La Mactan reflects our commitment to ensure reliable, high-quality internet and digital services to businesses in areas that have high growth potential."
The collaboration also highlights Eastern Communications’ capability in providing high-performance internet solutions to demanding enterprise clients. By equipping a luxury island resort with enterprise-grade connectivity, the company reinforces its commitment to helping businesses maintain smooth operations and superior service, regardless of location.
As Eastern Communications continues to expand across the Philippines, its partnership with Shangri-La Mactan demonstrates that even remote or island destinations can offer world-class digital experiences, combining premium hospitality with strong, future-ready connectivity.
