The National Police Commission on Sunday confirmed the takedown of 145 unauthorized Facebook pages that fraudulently used the Commission’s name, logo and identity.
The pages falsely presented themselves as official NAPOLCOM accounts and, in several instances, as affiliated examination review centers, misleading examinees and the public.
The takedown followed a formal request for assistance from NAPOLCOM to the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group, which facilitated the investigation and coordinated with Meta for appropriate action.
NAPOLCOM Commissioner Rafael Vicente R. Calinisan welcomed the move.
“Nagpapasalamat tayo sa PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group sa kanilang agaran at determinadong aksyon. The takedown of these 145 fake pages sends a clear message: hindi natin hahayaang magamit ang pangalan at simbolo ng NAPOLCOM upang manlinlang, magpakalat ng maling impormasyon, o pagkakitaan ang ating mga aplikante.”
“This is more than just removing pages online. It is about protecting the integrity of our examination processes and safeguarding the public in the digital space. Kapag may malinaw na koordinasyon at matatag na polisiya, may mabilis na pananagutan. Babantayan natin ang digital space nang may parehong higpit at determinasyon gaya ng pagbabantay natin sa integridad ng serbisyo publiko,” he added.
NAPOLCOM reiterated that official announcements, particularly those concerning examinations, application procedures and related activities, are released only through its verified communication channels.
Applicants and the public were advised to remain vigilant and report suspicious accounts or pages misrepresenting the Commission.
The agency also underscored the need for sustained coordination with law enforcement units and digital platforms to ensure faster detection and response to similar cyber threats, affirming its commitment to institutional integrity and public trust.
