Former Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission commissioner Greco Belgica on Friday said Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go would be the best running mate for Vice President Sara Duterte in 2028, citing the senator’s track record and loyalty to the Duterte family.

Belgica said Go's strong character, proven track record and faithfulness to the country are just a few of the qualities that are suitable for the position.

"You know, a lot of people missed the important aspect that Bong Go shows in his loyalty to Digong [former President Rodrigo Duterte] and to Sara," said Belgica during a press briefing at the El Mercedez Events Place in Pasig City.

"If he [Bong Go] can be faithful to one man, then he can be faithful to the nation. In fact, in his career, he has always been tied up. But he is a hard worker," he added.

Belgica also said that Go is the one who does all of President Duterte's orders and the one who balances the warring factions so that there is no confusion.

"He was able to do this successfully during the six years of President Duterte," he said.

According to Belgica, Bong Go is known for providing prompt solutions and responding to the needs of the people.

"We saw how fast the government ran back then; the action and response to the needs of the people were so fast. We still have the Malasakit Center where millions of people were given medical assistance. The government's money is not going to corruption, flood control, but to the needs of the people," Belgica said.

Belgica also said that Sara Duterte and the Filipinos will be able to sleep peacefully because she has a vice president who will never aspire for her position, referring to Bong Go who is a long-time aide of his father.

"That will give peace and security to our nation, so that we can concentrate on nation-building, economy, increasing the number of jobs, helping the people, increasing the economy, instead of politics, where you get the vice president, and that is what you hope to get rid of," Belgica said.

"If you ask me to choose, I think Bong has proven more than all the other candidates. I'm mentioning [Naga City Mayor] Leni [Robredo] because this is no longer about DDS. This is about what will be good for the country. I think genuine unity is what our country needs. That is why I support the reform. We should be united," he added.

Belgica and his group, Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS), is supporting the presidential bid of Vice President Duterte, who earlier declared that she is running for the higher post in the 2018 elections.

"I'm throwing our hats to support Vice President Sara because we know that she has the capacity, she has the ability, and she has the strength of heart and compassion to push for these reforms in government that we have been waiting for 40 years," Belgica said.
