Baguio Country Club marked its 121st anniversary today, 18 February.
In contrast to their 120th anniversary celebration, which was grand, this year’s event was more subdued, rooted in quiet aspirations for both the club and the city of Baguio.
“We started today’s celebration with a mass,” BCC Information Officer Andrew Pinero told Daily Tribune.
After the mass, BCC held a tree-planting activity, which Pinero described as “their contribution as one of the remaining places in Baguio with many trees.”
A total of 121 doves were also released in honor of the years the club has operated as a premier and exclusive resort in the City of Pines.
“We offer prayers for Baguio’s prosperity and we hope that it thrives more as a city,” Pinero expressed.
Asked whether the toned-down celebration was because of the observance of Ash Wednesday, marking the start of the Lenten season, Pinero said it was coincidental.
