The Philippine National Police-Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) declared the successful retrieval of a Filipino businessman and subsequent arrest of his captors this Wednesday.

Officers from the PNP-AKG noted that the victim was initially abducted by kidnappers in Mandaluyong City last February 12 right around 6:00 p.m. based on information gathered from the victim’s family.

His kidnappers were said to have demanded a ransom amount of P50 million, which would then later be reduced to P4 million.

After the family paid an amount of P250,000, operatives from the AKG were able to track the location of the suspects to be somewhere in Quezon City and immediately launched an operation to retrieve the businessman.

The department’s chief, Police Brig. Gen. Glicerio Cansilao, confirmed that three suspects in alias “Alvin,” alias “Tristan,” and alias “Mark” were placed under police custody following the operations.

“We are pleased to report that the victim is now safe and united with his family,” he stated.

Though three suspects are already in the hands of authorities and set to face charges, Cansilao said that the investigation into the kidnapping is still ongoing as officers are actively searching for all individuals connected to the crime.
