Authorities will deploy at least 11,500 police officers to secure the upcoming “Trillion Peso March” and related activities marking the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution, officials said Sunday.
The massive security contingent is being prepared for a series of prayer and indignation rallies scheduled for 22 and 25 February. Police expect a turnout of approximately 50,000 participants at the EDSA People Power Monument and surrounding areas.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Brig. Gen. Randy Glenn Silvio said personnel from the QCPD will be augmented by various Philippine National Police units and partner agencies.
Silvio cited that the deployment is aligned with national police agendas focused on enhanced presence and operational readiness for major public events.
“Our primary objective is to uphold public safety while respecting the citizens’ right to peacefully assemble,” Silvio said.
He added that the QCPD will implement comprehensive traffic management plans to minimize disruptions for motorists and residents during the historic milestone.
Meantime, Philippine National Police Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. emphasized that a coordination conference will be held this week to finalize operational plans and process permits with event organizers. Nartatez urged the public to cooperate with authorities, stressing that safety remains the top priority.
“It is our duty to ensure that every Filipino has the freedom to express themselves and gather peacefully — safely and without fear,” Nartatez said.
The deployment strategy follows the Enhanced Managing Police Operations framework, which prioritizes proactive and visible policing.
Authorities are encouraging participants to follow established safety protocols to ensure the event honors the legacy of the 1986 revolution without incident.
