Pokémon is taking its biggest global competition to Singapore next year as the franchise marks its 30th anniversary with a series of new announcements.

The 2027 Pokémon World Championships will be held at Singapore EXPO, with Championship Sunday taking place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The announcement was made during the inaugural PokémonXP event and the 2026 Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco, where champions across Pokémon’s major competitive games were crowned.

Aside from the Singapore announcement, Pokémon unveiled “Pokémon: Wild Card,” a new feature-length animated movie set for release beginning in 2027. The film will follow an aspiring Pokémon Trading Card Game player and Mimikyu.

The franchise also announced new content across its games and trading card products.

Pokémon Champions will introduce Z Mega Evolutions on 9 September 2026, featuring Mega Lucario Z, Mega Garchomp Z and Mega Absol Z, alongside Baxcalibur and Rillaboom.

Meanwhile, “Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu,” a stop-motion series produced by Aardman, will debut exclusively on Disney+ in 2027.

Pokémon GO will expand its battle system by allowing eligible Mega-Evolved Pokémon to use a third Charged Attack. Mega-Evolved Pokémon will also become available at all levels of the GO Battle League starting next season.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game also revealed new cards, including Mega Lucario Z ex, Mega Rayquaza ex, Mega Darkrai ex, Mega Greninja ex and Mega Zygarde ex.

For Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, dual-type Pokémon will be introduced beginning October 2026.

Pokémon UNITE, meanwhile, will add Morpeko, Toxtricity, Jolteon and Flareon as playable characters.

The announcements came as the 2026 Pokémon World Championships concluded, with champions crowned in the video game, Trading Card Game, Pokémon GO and Pokémon UNITE competitions.
