The driver involved in the incident that led to the death of a 23-year-old man along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) was released from custody on Thursday afternoon, according to the Quezon City Police District.
Police said the driver had been initially detained as part of standard operating procedure during the investigation.
“This measure is part of the investigative process to ensure proper documentation and compliance with legal requirements,” said officials.
The driver was released at 4:10 p.m. after the victim’s father wrote a notarized letter stating that they would not press charges against the driver.
Witnesses said they saw the victim fall from the LRT’s elevated platform before being run over by an MG5 sedan along EDSA.
