The Philippine National Police (PNP) formalized a partnership with the Lakan Police Association Inc. (LPAI) and the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) for a new leadership scholarship program aimed at developing management and leadership skills among police officers.

The Memorandum of Agreement was signed on 12 February, at the PNP National Headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City. Representing PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., Lt. Gen. Bernard Banac, Deputy Chief for Administration, signed the partnership alongside Brig. Gen. Portia Manalad, LPAI president, and Prof. Alberto Mateo Jr., head of AIM’s School of Executive Education and Lifelong Learning. The signing was witnessed by Maj. Gen. Bowenn Joey Masauding, Director for Education and Training.

Under the agreement, qualified members of the Lakan alumni who currently serve as regular PNP personnel can apply for scholarship grants at AIM, covering programs focused on executive leadership and organizational management. The LPAI will provide scholarship funding, while AIM will deliver the training programs.

PNP officials said the initiative forms part of the organization’s continuing education efforts to enhance leadership capacity, professional integrity, and strategic competence within its ranks. The program also aligns with the PNP’s broader goals of strengthening institutional performance and accountability.

The PNP-LPAI-AIM collaboration marks another step in linking police education with academic and professional institutions to improve governance and leadership within the law enforcement sector.
