Gilas hosts Mindanao tryouts

DAVAO CITY — Gilas Pilipinas will host the Mindanao Youth Boys Tryouts on Saturday and Sunday at the Genesis 88 Gym here.

Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas Region XI Zone 12 assistant zone director for technical development Atty. Francis Calatrava said around 150 players from all over Mindanao are expected to participate in the two-day tryouts that will be open to boys born 1 January 2008 onwards.

Calatrava also added that there will be a coaches’ Clinic that will be held after the opening day.

“It will be the only Gilas Pilipinas Youth Boys tryouts for Mindanao. This will be a good avenue for the kids to showcase their skills and earn a slot in the Gilas Pilipinas Youth roster. Gilas Pilipinas Youth will be seeing action in different tournaments in and outside the country,” said Calatrava, who added that Gilas Pilipinas Youth coach Juno Sauler will be in town to personally supervise the tryouts.
