The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has condemned the physical attack on a female overseas Filipino worker (OFW) that was captured on video inside a mall in Singapore.
In a radio interview on Thursday, DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the agency would extend legal and psychosocial assistance to the victim.
He said the DMW has already coordinated with the Philippine labor attaché in Singapore and confirmed that the woman has been identified.
"Rest assured we are providing her with the necessary legal counselling as well as psycho-social counselling," Cacdac said.
Cacdac added that the victim has shared details about the incident, but he declined to disclose them pending further developments.
The DMW has also coordinated with Singaporean authorities to ensure proper handling of the case.
"We have also coordinated with the Singaporean authorities para magkaroon ng proper endorsement itong kaso, investigation on the matter kasi ang talagang malinaw dito caught on video eh. Somebody must brought to justice," Cacdac said.
"There was physical harm. Para sa akin whether it's minor or major physical injury, kitang kita yung assault. Kung sa batas natin 'yan sa Pilipinas meron na 'yan proper charges or complaint that could be put forward," he added.
A viral video circulating online showed the victim speaking with a foreign man inside a mall before the suspect repeatedly kicked her after she fell to the floor.
The DMW said it will continue to monitor the case and ensure that the OFW receives appropriate support and assistance.
