In a world dominated by screens, algorithms, and the endless chase for likes, a surprising trend is emerging: millennials and Gen Z are increasingly drawn to spaces of introspection and spiritual growth. Cafés offering meditation workshops, yoga studios with mindfulness programs, and online communities exploring inner work are no longer niche, they’re becoming central to how younger generations navigate stress, uncertainty, and the search for meaning.
This April, Manila will become a focal point for that movement. The Sant Nirankari Mission Philippines is hosting the Nirankari South East Asian Samagam on 4 and 5 April at the World Trade Center Manila, bringing together nearly three thousand attendees from across Asia, Europe, and the Americas. At the heart of the gathering is the theme “Aatm Manthan”, or self-reflection, a practice that encourages individuals to examine thoughts, emotions, and intentions before interacting with the wider world.
The event will feature hymns, discourses, poetry, and youth segments all designed to guide attendees through moments of contemplation. Spiritual leader Satguru Mata Sudiksha Ji Maharaj and Nirankari Rajpita Ramit Ji will share insights aimed at fostering clarity, humility, and a connection with the ultimate reality.
For many young participants, the Samagam is not just ritual; it’s a rare space to slow down, unplug, and consider life from a different perspective. “When millennials and Gen Z approach spirituality, they’re looking for authenticity and experience,” a mission representative said. “Aatm Manthan provides that space, to reflect, learn, and connect with something greater than themselves.”
As Manila opens its doors to this growing wave of mindful seekers, events like the Samagam highlight how younger generations are reshaping the conversation around spirituality, less tradition for tradition’s sake, more personal exploration and reflection.
