Razon-led Manila Water Company, Inc. has started sourcing 100 percent of its retail electricity from renewable energy through a partnership with AdventEnergy, the retail arm of Aboitiz Power Corp.

The East Zone water concessionaire said Wednesday that the agreement makes it the first water firm in the country to fully shift to cleaner power.

The deal covers Manila Water’s Enterprise operations in Metro Manila’s East Zone and Rizal.

Meanwhile, the company’s other units—including Cebu Water, Tagum Water, Calbayog Water, Laguna Water, Estate Water, LARC Water, Boracay Water, and South Luzon Water—will be supplied with a 20 percent renewable energy mix.

“We take pride in formalizing this partnership. It truly makes a difference in the lives of our customers knowing that a water utility can work with a partner like AdventEnergy to deliver sustainable solutions that we have worked so hard to pursue,” said Roberto R. Locsin, Manila Water President and CEO.

AdventEnergy President James Yu, on the other hand, said the company values Manila Water’s continued trust since 2023 and aims to build on early successes. He added that their focus on reliable water services supports Manila Water’s goal of improving lives and strengthening local communities.

The partnership supports the government’s renewable energy and decarbonization goals while helping Manila Water cut its carbon footprint and push the country’s clean energy transition forward.
